The ceiling damage
Water was leaking through the downstairs hallway ceiling. Upstairs, a sink had already been removed and a floorboard lifted, but the source remained hidden.
What ADI found
Moisture readings beneath the bath, thermal imaging and an endoscope helped narrow the search. With permission, the engineer lifted floorboards and exposed a hairline crack in a copper pipe.
The repair and follow-up
ADI cut back the faulty pipe section, installed new fittings and added an isolation valve to the cold mains. The pipework held pressure when retested.
The engineer also recorded corrosion and poor condition elsewhere in the bathroom pipework and waste system. Further upgrades were recommended; they were not part of this repair.
